my angel Rachael Jenkins killing it at Kilby Block Party 2026
I’m recovering from the joy and exhaustion of three days of Kilby Block Party, so I’ll keep it short and sweet! NEW SONG OUT TODAY!
✨👥 The Witness is a song about knowing that to be seen and held and understood, you must first see and hold and understand. It’s about love, beyond limits and gender, across multiple universes. It’s about learning something new about yourself through the eyes of someone else.
The Witness was one of those rare songs for me where I sit down and the lyrics just come pouring out. I didn’t edit these much between the initial writing of them and the final takes. I had just deleted my twitter account and ended a relationship where traditional gender roles were completely dismantled and it really opened up so much for me and how I view myself and wanted to be perceived by other people. Jordan and I struggled with this one a lot in structure and production though - we took it through a lot of different presentations. One where I was BELTING the choruses and trying to channel my inner Chappell Roan, which didn’t end up working for the song as a whole. When we were mixing we did end up bringing one of those big choruses back in at the end as sort of a weird, unhinged background thing snaking through it, which I love since the song is a little about multiple timelines. The hint of the song existing in a totally different way if we’d gone down a different path buried in the production.
Written and performed by me and and Jordan Watko (crowd shy), produced by Jordan Watko, drums by Ken Vallejos, mixing, mastering, and additional production by Andrew Goldring, and Lonny Starsky made the incredibly cool single cover art.
Jordan also made a really beautiful lyric video using some VHS footage from Lonny Starsky, and you can check that out, here.
Preorders are up for the full album If I Let It Quiet out on July 24th. I got the test pressing last week and boy howdy does it sound nice!!
Jordan gets here in ONE MONTH for us to start rehearsing for tour this summer with me and Ken. Cannot wait to sweat with you, West Coast! Go listen to Strog so you can get amped for them, too!

And if you’re in SLC, snag tickets to our super special album release show on July 25th with Strog and Nicole Canaan.

Okay I love you thank you for your support and ears, I hope you are doing okay. ❤
